When the grass needs mowed, but I can’t because it’s hailing. It’s not big hail, but typically Mother’s Day is when we can be confident the weather is going to be nice enough to not get this kinda crap without really nasty storms.

Try not to be jealous of my wonderfully lucious yard.

Maybe it’ll knock the murder hornets out of the sky or slow down the genocide groundhogs that’ll probably come next.

Your yard looks better than mine.

The grass is very patchy and filled with tree roots; thanks silver maples. The backyard is the dogs domain and will never be nice though. Ruby created a racetrack through the yard where even weeds don’t grow.

I’ve got a massive silver maple in my backyard that is dying and needs to be cut down. One tree company quoted me $3700 to take it down and haul it away. It makes me said because I’ll be losing a ton of shade on my deck. But so it goes.

My grass is (was) St. Augustine. When we moved in 18 years ago, it was lush and beautiful. But the previous owner poured tons of water (it’s a very thirsty grass) and tons of chemicals on it. We did not, and now it looks horrible. I’ve been thinking about getting bids on sod and sprinklers, but the tree has to come down first.

Why didn't you paint the deck?

I’m going to be doing some repair work on the deck this spring/summer. When I do that I plan to stain it.

There are three in my yard that I’d love to have removed. Thankfully they aren’t dying so it’s not critical. Then there’s one in my neighbors yard that I’m considering cutting one of it’s big roots before it starts tearing up my driveway.

My front yard looks much worse than the back. It’s more clover than anything. We need to lay out a couple gardens and replace some old landscape timbers. That will be this years project then this fall I’ll work on improving the grass with hopes of the front actually looking good next year. At least on one side of the driveway.

That’s the plan, we’ll see what actually happens.

We got little passing patches of sleet/hail here yesterday. It’s was weird. At one point I had sleet  coming down on one side of my house but not the other.
